ANWAG stands for The Alliance of Nuclear Worker Advocacy Groups.
We have closely monitored the progress (or lack thereof) of EEOICPA
since it's passage in 2000. One Group - The Coalition for a
Healthy Environment - was instrumental in educating Congress
that this bill was needed. They made many trips to DC prior to 2000.
We keep Congress and the press informed of all the
problems claimants experience.

My group is Grassroots Organization of Sick Workers (GOSW).
I keep in touch with claimants and other advocates from across the country.
It is better for people to contact me via email. It is difficult to be on the phone all day.
But obviously, those who don't have access to email can call 970-824-2260.

Also, I suggest that the Part E Ombudsman's contact information be on the website.
This office is wonderful in assisting claimants. His Name is Malcolm Nelson ombudsman@dol.gov 877-662-8363.

Denise Brock is the Part B Ombudsman 888-272-7430

Thanks,

Hello,

All of us, at one time or another, has questioned the cost of administering this program. What did we come up with? Approximately $500,000,000?? Just to pay the salaries of the Asst. Dept. Secretaries, the toxicologists, the DMC's, the dose reconstructors, the claims examiners and the hearing officers? I don't remember seeing any emails or memo's from Shelby Hallmark saying that DOL needs to rein in the cost of administering the program. NO, instead he decides that DOL MUST be "good stewards of public funds" by second guessing the health care of the sick workers. It's ok for DOL to pay a DMC $10,000.00 for an inaccurate report. It's ok for NIOSH to spend who knows how much to write a site profile that is not complete. It's ok for the Advisory Board to stay at one of the most luxurious hotels available in a city. But don't let a claimant receive the best health care available because DOL needs to be frugal with taxpayer dollars!

This is just so wrong on so many levels. Thanks for reading this far and allowing me to vent my frustrations.
